Michael Vaughan is England’s captain and worst one-day player. No-one’s ever really worked out how he can be such a dominating Test batsman, yet such a plank in one-day cricket, but a plank he is. His fielding’s pretty ordinary too.

If Michael Vaughan’s ever going to prove himself to be a better than mediocre one-day player he might as well do it by winning the World Cup. We’d put a tenner on his being top run-scorer in the tournament only we don’t have that much money.
